Our Philosophy

Empowerment > Punishment

Poachers are not the enemy. They are simply trying to make a better living for themselves and their families. Instead of punishing the people driven to poaching by economic instability, why not empower them instead? Prosecution and incarceration does nothing to change the underlying conditions that result in poaching activity. Collaboration does. At Pay The Poachers, we are offering poachers a third option; work with us. Help us protect and preserve endangered wildlife for future generations and we will make sure you can earn a living wage, afford to put food on your table, send your children to school, provide medical care for your family and have a career in a profession where you can repurpose the skills you already possess to excel and grow.

How It Works

We partner with anti-poaching conservation organizations.

We spread this model across the world.

We collaborate and integrate our program into pre-existing wildlife conservation organizations.

With time and proof of concept, we expand Pay The Poachers into Asia and South America.

We encourage our partners to offer employment to poachers.

Prosecution, incarceration or employment? The poacher gets to choose.

We supply employment funds for each ex-poacher turned wildlife protector.

We track and report our ex-poacher’s progress to their sponsors.

Our generous sponsors financially back these poachers turned wildlife protectors and pay commissions to rangers for each new poacher recruited into the program.

Our partnership organizations generate progress reports that we extend to our sponsors, keeping them informed and involved at every stage of their sponsored wildlife protector’s journey.

We connect our sponsors with the people they are impacting.

Our sponsors receive personalized videos, photos, letters and updates from their sponsored wildlife protectors.

Sponsor A Poacher

Our ex-poachers turned wildlife protectors receive:

A Living Income

The term "living income" refers to an income level that allows individuals or families to afford adequate shelter, food, and other life necessities. The goal of a living income is to allow employees to earn enough income for a satisfactory standard of living and prevent them from falling into poverty.

Tuition Assistance

Financial support for our program participant’s children to help cover the cost of their education.

Medical Insurance

Coverage that pays for medical and surgical expenses, covering a range of services, including doctor visits, hospital stays, emergencies situations, medications, and preventive care.

Status Restoration

Poachers are seen as criminals in their communities. This limits their economic opportunities and further pigeonholes them into poaching. By enrolling in our program, ex-poachers are given the opportunity to restore their status within their community by making amends for their past.
